Chapel
St.
Cousair Chapel
Introduction
Greetings. My name is Mayumi Kuze. My husband, Ryozo Kuze,
is the CEO of the St. Cousair Company. St Cousair produces
and sells the highest-quality wines, jams, and dressings.
In addition, we have two outstanding restaurants located near
our vineyards. Also, we have a chapel located near our restaurants.
At this time, I would like to introduce you to our chapel by first telling you
about my personal background and then telling you about the history of the chapel
and ending with information about our church service.
Personal Background
My husband and I were married in 1976. Back then, we were young and busy, running
a small lodge and raising two children. In our early 30’s, we started the
St. Cousair business and moved the office to Iizuna village. It was at that
time that we started the winery and restaurant business. During the early
phases of trying to develop and expand our business, we encountered numerous
financial difficulties. Fortunately for us, we were introduced to Jesus Christ
and the Bible at the same time that we were suffering under the weight of
our business problems.
I became a Christian in 1991, and my husband became a Christian in 1993. After
we became believers by inviting Jesus to come into our lives as Lord and Savior,
we started to pray for the company’s issues in the name of Jesus. God answered
our prayers and blessed us, helping us solve our difficulties. God has continued
to bless our company in abundance after my husband started to run it based
on Biblical principles.
History of St. Cousair Chapel
In 1999, I received a vision from God to build a church in Iizuna village.
In 2000, I entered the seminary to learn more about the Bible. On June 3, 2001,
we started to hold church services in our office ‘chapel’. On May 9, 2003,
I became a pastor. The verses that God laid on my heart as an impetus to build
the chapel are found in Matthew 5:14-15. These verses state, “You are the light
of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a
lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives
light to everyone in the house.”
Because we wanted to honor God and be a light on a hill for all to see, we
started to build a church on a hill in September 2004. Soon, my husband became
a chapel leader. Employees at St. Cousair, along with many volunteers, built
the church. The leader of the project, Daniel Hamilton, was a pastor and a
construction worker. All the materials to make the church were imported from
Portland, Oregon in the United States.
We believe that the St. Cousair church is a miracle church because everything
was accomplished and built through volunteer work and effort. Finally, on April
24, 2005, the construction was completed. 190 people from all over Japan attended
our first service. Since then, we have baptized over 100 people in the name
of Jesus. People from all walks of life continue to attend our church. And
we are thankful that many people pray with us and pray for us.
Our Desire
We pray that many people will come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
Because we want you to become part of our church family, we invite you to attend
one of our church services. You will feel right at home experiencing a friendly
community atmosphere. If you are unable to attend a service, we would appreciate
your prayers for our church and its leaders so we may continue to serve the
Lord.
Service time and content
We conduct a service at 2 p.m. every Sunday. We sing songs, listen to a biblical
message that gives answers to everyday problems, have a time of prayer; and
afterwards, we serve tea. Also, every Tuesday at 4 p.m., we have a company
meeting where we sing gospel music, and then we have a time of prayer.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in
all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.”
My God bless you.
St. Cousair Chapel, Mayumi Kuze
